>I thought the best bit was seeing Clewes Everard of EH and Jeremy Wickham of Wiltshire Police holding hands and singing a peace song!!<

Hah! Yes that was funny!

As for EH not wanting the festival to re-establish, that did seem to be their major fear, and yet they made no attempt to explain why, which I thought rather incongrous. It was a thread that ran through the entire program and yet they didn't give any explanation for their fear at all. It seemed to be a fear of almost superstitious strength and coloured almost everything that EH and the police did.

P.S. Who do you know that was on the prog? There were some interesting peeps on there! If I wasn't already spoken for I'd be busy falling in love with the witchy woman who lit the candle thingie!

oops, sorry, just realised - the candle thingie was in part 2.

Rule no1 is always 'No return of the Festival'. Much of it is still prompted by the press furore that surrounded the festival in the 80's. I'm not sure how strong local feelings are, but there's always a few vociferous local residents against it. Most of the people I met in Amesbury over the years had nothing against the festival... in fact, the locals I spoke to were more pissed of with the Police during the Exclusion Zone years. But then again, I'm hardly likely to rub shoulders with those who were against it!

Jeremy Wickham seems far more open minded than past Wiltshire Police reps have been. I think he's even gone as far as apologising for the Police operation at the Beanfield... something that Lionel Grundy (I think that was his name), the Chief Constable at the time will never do.

I know Brian (who's a really nice bloke) and have had brief dealings with a few of the others thru' the Stonehenge Campaign... I've done artwork for Dice George's newsletter... King Arthur let me hold his sword once too!!!!!

Haven't seen that bit yet, but I'd guess it'd probably be Cerri Dragonoak.

You should read the minutes from some of the Roundtable meetings... reads a bit like a name check from Lord of the Rings!
