If they are confined to one face of the stone then, probably, yes. If they're on every facet of the stone then, almost certainly, no.
As far as I can recall they are only on one face but ill go back up in the bright to confirm this weekend

I know we're never likely to agree on this one (it's well rehearsed) but just because markings are only on one side of a stone doesn't mean they're artificial.
It might suggest that the stone was chosen for the feature of natural markings though.
