Yes there was tin streaming here going back as far as the Bronze Age according to some experts. There is written evidence of shallow mining going back to the 1500s I believe.

to finish Stonelifters questions..

Smelting was done on the moor in blowing houses..but i think these are Medieval things...

The holes are only on the top side of what is a very large stone perched on the edge of the hill. Whilst taking the most recent photo published I was inchs away from plummeting 20 feet.
