When I visited the area with Chance I found the whole wood quite enchanting. Deer were running around almost everywhere and the moss on the stones shone with an lovely green glow despite the overcast day.
To me it didn't feel at all bad or evil.

Like Chance has said it is full of archaeology some of which must date from pre-Roman. It doesn't take much imaginatione to visualise the stone circle and is probably worth another visit and closer inspection before the vegetation takes hold in the summer.
