(CAU) I've not opened the letter yet !

With the Wallington stone it's easy to make out how deeply it was set in the ground originally, and then it was probably dressed to shape, certainly used as a rubbing stone my years and years of farm livestock. The gouges/eroded channels are very similar to those on the Man but down, down, below original ground level is what appears to be a pair of wide shallow cups.

I wonder if Time Team would be interested in finding the stone's original position. It might show up with geuphysics.
