I was up there a few weeks back, and it was a lovely, wild and windy place. It takes a bit of commitment to drag a pot of paint across the moorland. I wonder if there was more to it than just mindless vandalism from some bored local deadhead?

sad to suggest this, but it kind of looked like someone's idea of a "druidic sacrifice" (the red paint/blood?), particularly as there was a fresh cut rose next to it, also paint splattered. As you say, nobody was just passing with a can of paint...
