Hi,

Found this site by chance. The guy who was struck is a friend of mine. It was touch and go for a week or so but he is now out of ITU and making a good recovery. He is able to speak, to see and to move his hands and feet. His internal and external burns, although very severe, are healing well. He's got a long and painful recuperation ahead of him though.

Until this incident I had considered 'looking at old rocks' a fairly safe hobby :-)

Thanks for the update. I hope your friend makes a speedy recovery.

I think we'll all be treading carefully as a result of his accident. It could easily have been any of us.
