Has been daubed with gold hammerite paint!
Any suggestions as to how best remove it would be appreciated by the landowners.

I'd suggest they get in touch with the manufacturers of Hammerite first. If anyone would know how to get it off they would.
Oh fer feck sake! This is getting too frequent! Hammerite is a sod to remove. I suppose the stone is isolated? PeteG
Somewhere on Englishe Heritage's website is a technical report on the removal of paint from stone work. I have downloaded it but it could be anywhere!

i hope that if the culprit/s are caught their fingers are removed with garden shears.these attacks are getting worryingly frequent..
This image is not for the delicate of constitution or those likely to go out and axe murder a stone defiler!

Two whole tins of paint have been thrown over the stone. One is gold hammerite in a big oozing glob down the centre and the other is the yellow splatters.
It could be worth getting in touch with these people http://www.irishbuildingindustry.ie/Headings/stonerestoration.htm
Some good tips here http://www2.cr.nps.gov/tps/briefs/brief38.htm
