You've summed up my feelings there June but I add a little twist to it. I never view any site as a 'stand alone' structure/feature until I know for sure what lies around it as it may be part of a larger picture in the landscape. The 'walk-in' can be very informative and may give you a greater understanding of what you are looking at.
