> Kammer, is there any way of getting detailed information about sites out of the database?

Yes there is. All you have to do is email the owner of the data (linked to from each record) and then wait a while. They should contact you with information on the site. It ain't exactly CANMORE, but it's better than nowt.

The end result depends on the organisation you're contacting, but on the whole you'll get something. Usually a second or third enquiry is required to drill down to exactly what you're after.

Alternatively, you can visit the NMRW here in Aberystwyth and pour through bundles of paperwork. Bear in mind that not all the information indexed in CARN is available in the library (all the RCAMW stuff is though):

If it's something really interesting, I could go and take a look on your behalf.

Thanks Kammer, it wasn’t specific details on a particular site I was thinking of, more of a general browse through sites in different areas in a sort of rcahmw meets TMA stylee. For England the MagicMap website lets you stick in a grid reference which brings up a map with the scheduled monuments marked. Clicking one gives you an extract of the scheduling report which in most cases is a real treasure trove of information – you can continue clicking and scrolling the map to your heart’s content. Best of all is that it’s instant.
Is there anything similar for Wales that you know of?
