If historians aren't sure which of the two Roman walls divided the Maetae from the Calydonii I wonder if anyone has considered that it may have been neither ? Native walls I scream ;-)

a very nice thought! after a little bit more digging, it seems that it was only earlier historians who were unsure of which wall it was, and the general consensus now would appear to be that it definitely was the Antonine Wall. and Xiliphinus' description of the Maeatae stronghold does match perfectly with Dumyat
