There's also a relevant petition on the 10 Downing St website

That's a much better one! How did I miss that one?

Just one currently, ironically. Scrap road pricing proposals - 1.4 million signatures, far more than all the others put together. And the govt. is going to take heed. JoePublic doesn't really want to do his bit for the environment.
Now then. My sarcasm filter is currently not at full strength... Is this true? I thought they were blatantly ignoring us!

I can't help feeling thatthe far reaches of the British Isles are in impractical position for a wind-farm that's supposed to be supplying large parts of the country... Somewhere more central, surely, would make more sense?

It makes more sense to put them in the places with strong and consistenet wind. This largely means the edges of the country.

As we use AC cables to transmit power, we do lose a lot shoving it over large distances, but it still works out the best bet.

A much better bet it putting them offshore where the wind is even stronger and more reliable, and where they can't fuck up any landscape. This, however, is more expensive. So they go for onshore ones, on ,land that's cheap to buy, which usually means ecologically precious peat bogs.

There are vast areas of coastal land much more suitable - golf courses. More stable than peat, and we'd be reclaiming them from their lawn chemical hell, and getting some balance frmo the overconsuming twats who play golf. Turbine the fucking lot i reckon.
