Hi

It does seem like there is stuff around but who knows whether it's just false trails etc. Me and Phil Legard (machine) went to find a standing stone that was indicated on an old OS map up on the moor near Beckwithshaw, it was there but quite disappointing. However we got lost on the same walk in Haverah park (ancient hunting park) and found a strange mound with next to a stream with a flat a 4ft stone standing at the end of it. We had no idea what it was.

A trek out one day would be good. I think there's a plan to do Rombalds Moor soon, but some exploration of Wharfedale would be good, the whole Almscliffe thing is very intriguing.

Was this anywhere near the old Haverah Park Lodge (now a farm)? Cos near here in 1871 William Grainge wrote: "is a fine group of rocks, among which are a druidical idol and altar, yet complete." We never looked for this, so its status is unknown. It's described as close to one of the nearby reservoirs to the north of Little Almscliffe.
