Oooh, I forget to mention, they're not megalithic, merely charmingly English - call in one of these villages if you can: Stow-on-the-Wold, Lower Slaughter and if you dare Bourton-on-the-Water or Broadway (a bit too toursity, perhaps?) The tower at the top of Fish Hill above Broadway gives the most amazing views down into the Vale of Evesham.

All these are directly en route on the drive between Oxford and Worcester. A road I know rather well...
