The site sits atop a low rise on a 2km stretch of land between two bays. Higher ground lies to the N and S.

Without trees and assuming all the original stones were of the same size as those remaining, this would have been a very visible and impressive site.

Looking out from the circle would be N Arran to the W - hilly and full of notches. To the E are the Cumbrae islands and the mainland - low lying and generally smooth in profile.

I had it in my mind that it might have been high enough up to see Ailsa Craig to the south. Presumably not. Ah well, they're probably too far away from each other anyway.

It still looks impressive, despite missing stones.
