Are you thinking they were selected, or shaped?

Either way, the objective could have been a pointed shape just as well as being a "shouldered" shape. Pointed is aesthetically satisfying, more monumental.

Yeah, the line between 'pointy' & 'shouldered' is a bit blurred from the 2 pics you posted 4W. Any more egs? There's millions of pointy ones.

J - you're right about the Stanton D Cove stone, but depending on exactly what 4W's on about, it may be more in the 'pointy'-stylee.
