These are big buggers, you are not going to use the tops of these for sighting unless you have a stepladder. The only studies of directionality are of sites aligned to one another or else sharing a common alignment.

Nothing to stop the builders using ladders if they needed them , we can manage without ,if necessary ,and maybe the builders could have done so too .
