I think I saw that in a book as well, does the notes say something like 'place where mens bones were dug up'?? I think it was in a little paperback book by some french guy, it will come to me..

Sorry, just remembered where I saw a not to dis-similar plate reproduced in Burls 'Great Stone Circles' which was in Camden's 'Britain', 1610. Not much help but I did find a library book I was missing while rooting out that!
