Would a miniature model really be a useful part of the process though? It would take nifty trigonometry to scale up the curve of the lintels to full size - when all they needed was a stick and a rope to scratch the exact required arc on the ground. If it really is a miniature megalith then maybe we're talking good old ritual rather than a practical purpose - which opens the door to a whole new world of speculation.

Very funny ;) if you actually read the Sheffield report you'll see they found other carved bits and bobs...

This is beginning to sound a bit like the miniature Eiffel Towers on sale in Paris. God forbid they ever find a Neolithic souvenir shop at Stonehenge ;-)

But, you know, why not? Stonehenge must have been one of the wonders of the age, with people coming to see it from near and far. Is it so implausible that pilgrims then, as now, would want a memento of their visit to take home with them? Perhaps there's a danger of us trying to sanitise the past when all the time our ancestors probably had much the same needs and aspirations as we have today...
