Hole 27 as thrown a spanner in the works, I know all the holes are different depths this was done to make them all level at the top. I didn't know they had radically different profiles though. We'll just have to think things through. This brings us back to the big question, "Are we try to show what was possible 4000 years ago, or what we think the builders of Stonehenge did?

In light of the apparent evidence about the holes, we would be shot down like crows on a fence if we tried to suggest that the Stonehenge stones were dropped upright into their holes. However, if we demonstrate that stone-rowing is capable of quickly transporting huge stones over difficult terrain with a small workforce we will have accomplished a lot. If we also demonstrate that the method could be extended to dropping stones into holes, but avoid linking it to Stonehenge, then we will have given people something to think about.
