... which is precisely what English Heritage supported for a long time.

Credit where it's due to the NT though. People were so relieved to get the bored tunnel that they were willing to settle for the short version. But upon mature reflection, the longer the better, and it's worth a try.

Perhaps they could raise the money for the longer tunnel with advertisements painted on the grass around the henge?
