Hi, Ishmael,

<Ok on a practical point.
While these Sophisticated builders were building these huge monuments how come they were represented as Loin cloth wearing barbarians?
And How do you keep a deer skin from opening with a simple polished wooden pin?
eh eh?>

Yep; noted those - even my lady (engrossed in something more productive than I) spotted the pin gaff; pity the Producer didn't.

Peace

Yes, there were some rather sweeping assumptions made about the different significances of wood and stone,

Yes, the link between Durrington, the river and Stonehenge is still tenuous,

Yes, "the presenter formerly known as Baldric" is a bit too in yer face (despite being born on the same day as me - I've worn better!)

But there was also a lot of fascinating revelations about a well trod road/path being so ancient, about the scale of the wooden erections, about the volume of archeo finds and the concentration of pork feasting (yummy). IMHO this adds to the awe we should feel for what our "primitive(?)" ancestors were able to achieve, not to mention our respect for their apparent spiritual fervour.

And, I felt Mick Aston provided a useful measure of "yet to be convinced" to balance some of the wilder assumptions.
