Oh, and with short-arse circles they could well be buried under the peat and not found because we have still not re-colonised areas of settlement from warmer periods.

thnaks - that's interesting - like lewis. the guy from via studios said that there was some speculation that the via stones were from a circle - but that would be a very small circle

but you think that the builders of brodgar would brook no rivals? how would that relate to rousay seemingly being the capital of the dead?
