i can recall a time when i spent three days docked there.
1st night i returned from a sailor's night in Thurso i could see all these faces in the water staring at me so i sang them a song....turns out they were seals.
they love a good song......sing to 'em charlie and give them my best regards, have a good one matey

Somewhere in the footnotes of his "Greek Myths," Robert Graves says something about seals being "notoriously susceptible to music," so what you're saying is true. One time about 10 years ago I was walking on the beach in Santa Barbara at dusk. I had the uncanny sensation of being watched, but no one was around. Instead of looking right into the hills I instinctively turned left. In the water about 15 feet out in the surf was a seal looking directly at me, so I winked at him.

Who knows? Maybe he knew I was a musician.
