Chris- your recent post have been great and v inspiring and enjoyable. I'm v jealous- have never been in the country around Aberdeen (even though most of my wife's family are from up that way). I'm currently trying to instill the idea that a family holiday to the NE would be a great idea for next year- this, however, would probably involve my wife n son sitting in the car whilst I clamber around sites- can't see it somehow!
Did you not visit any Perthshire sites then? I know the pull of the mighty recumbents of Aberdeenshire is pretty strong, but there are some crackers in Perthshire too. Guess yer time was limited- you'll just have to come back up ;)

Hi Martin,

I did get to a couple in Perthshire, notably Auchterarder (is that still in Perthshire?) which was a cool site, but after running through all the Landrangers in Waterstones in Perth, No.38 blew me a way and that was it I'm afraid!

I want to go back now...sob. Northants is nice, but sooo megalith free.

just a thought if you go that way with the family there's an 'archaeolink' place quite close to aberdeen reconstructions of places, face painting, dancing, shop, bar, well, round house etc etc and up the hill an original site too. I can't remember names and details( i went a few years a go when it first opened) but it may be good entertainment for the children if you decide to wander further in the area for the day.
