I wear one occasionally (excuse is I'm over 50 now and probably middle-class now - I have MUCH more problems with that by the way!), but the more I've found out about the history of tartan and kilts the harder it gets to put one on.

The tourist spots looked odd with all these tour guides dressed in identical kilts and combat boots and rugby shirts, as no one wanted to wear the whole rig-out. I wore tartan combat pants in the end, and did some tours for myself. Have less of a problem wearing tartan in a modern setting, I've found.
