FFS !!! You ask a question and they all go whittering on about something else!

You'd never catch me doing that :-)

yes i know the grouping is bizarre, but holy did back me up in that i've asked for a group/area heading and am expecting holy to have a fabulous grasp of geography to sort it all out.
i know one of you mentioned i could have begun my own 'heading', but as a mere mortal i felt i was over-stepping the editorial mark to create a new area.
to answer fourwinds question, no they are not graded, just a bit miserable and ruined. Nant Tarw, Mynydd Bach, Cerrig Duon and Ynys Hir all appear to be around 20m in diameter and comprised of mainly small old red sandstone set on edge.
The brecon beacons are interesting because in the east are 14+ neolithic chambered cairns and to the west 6 or so small bronze age circles, not to mention many iron age forts, standing stones and whatnot.
i may attempt a weblog to explain it all.
apologies for the lack of photos.

you will all be relieved to know that i am taking a camera to Ynys Hir, mainly because it is within the impact area of a firing range and most people are not given access to visit it. most books i have seen just use the same plan of the site drawn in 1943 (before it became an army range).

that said when i finally get digital i shall revisit the sites and photograph them, in the meantime you are all welcome to beat me to it.
