On this subject (all right, slightly off it) does anyone know of any general guide to prehistoric Wales that's worth looking for? I know Burl includes Wales in his various Stone Circle books and there's obviously TMA, but there doesn't seem to be a general guide along the lines of, say James Dyer's "Discovering Prehistoric England".

Any suggestions appreciated!

I'd recommend The Architecture of Death by George Nash for the whole of Wales. If just Anglesey, I also have a little CADW guide that covers ancient monuments (altho some are modern (roman and medieval).

Another all Wales one I like is Christopher Houlder, Wales: An Archaeological Guide.

The Nash one is my fave even though it only covers chambered tombs - there are still a fair few of them in Wales, even if you ignore the rest!

Hope that helps

Well the Architecture of Death one by Geo.Nash can be found here, under general books on Wales.........

as can Neolithic Sites of Cards, Carms, & Pembs by G.Nash and G.Children, there was a sort of run of books under the 'Monuments in the Landscape' series.... Herefordshire, Monmouth etc.....
Prehistoric Preseli by N.P.Figgis is an excellent area book.
Probably the best advice is to look for Welsh books when you're in Wales, browsing bookshops is part of the holiday.
