Walton Basin

Morfe - I'm very interested in your description of the Walton Basin, and it got me thinking about the way the area is categorised on TMA.

How big is the area you're describing? Do you reckon the site group "Old Radnor & the Four Stones" should be changed to the Walton Basin? I guess this would effectively enlarge it quite a bit. Perhaps there isn't enough up there to warrant a larger geographical area.

What do you reckon?

Can I just raise my old reservations on grouping sites? The more I think about it the more I hate it because it means that when you get to the menu page you have to know what 'grouping' a site's in.

For example if the Four Stones went into a 'Walton Basin' grouping, you'd need to know it was in that grouping to find it (or find it through 'search'). So from 'home' you'd go in through the S Wales segment of the map & get no 'Four Stones' - it'd be 'hidden' in 'Walton Basin'.

Does anyone see what I mean? (Obviously it applies to all groupings where the sites included aren't obvious from the name of the group.)

No I don't reckon we should change into groups, every site has it's own significance, even if part of a larger complex. I just think that the Vale of Radnor, particularly the Walton Basin area, has a number of features and is easily referenced as such. I don't mention the 'Walton Basin' by way of official categorisation, me not being neither officious or an authority :-)
