Take your time in the Shap area, there's tons to see.
I would suggest starting at Gamelands and then working your way north taking in Oddendale and Iron Hill before going into Shap. The sites are relatively close together so you can get around them all in a day or so.

I would recommend a visit to Gamelands as well. There's a fair bit of it missing but it's a lovely peaceful place and Knott Hill & Great Asby Scar behind it are fantastic.

If you get the chance spend some time at Pike of Stickle - it's truely awesum place indeed.
