Hi Fitz, yeah, we were up there yesterday, a really clear morning with no-one else about. I wondered what era the circles date from...there's a group of four what look like kists in one circle and the whole complex is so impressive I was surprised not to have heard of it before, I only found out through the campsite map of the area that it was there.
Thanks for the info, any more would be greatfully recieved.

Hi vertx
the circles are probably Bronze Age. For more info, If you follow Spaceships link to the Burn Moor pages and then click on the link to MAGIC you can get a lot more info an a printable pdf.
For reading on the area I'd recommend checking out books by Aubrey Burl, John Waterhouse and Tom Clare.

Hi Vertx,

The whole area has been logged under the title Burn Moor Complex (really one word, Burnmoor, and yes, I am a pedant.), as per the link below:-

I'll second Fitz's suggestion of wandering about, as I found numerous old cairns between the sites. A truly awe-inspiring area.

Cheers,
TE.
