I need a laptop for long trips, otherwise I quickly run out of cards for the digital camera. It's a bit of a pain though, especially as ours doesn't run off it's battery. I end up begging power sockets from camp sites, cafes etc.

IME, most laptops don't have the battery oomph needed to run the HDD or CD for very long anyway. 2 hours at best on mine, and that's fairly new.

Luckily, I've now got an invertor unit for the car, so we can run the laptop off the 12v supply if need be :-)
