Sarsen2 hits the mark a bit more. Still not sure about smooth root fossils, I can't see how the hell anyone could do that without decades of patient drilling/scouring.

Damn right I want to wander amongst the drifts again. Preferably with a copy of that ridiculously detailed book on Fyfield you have.

I was thinking in terms of a natural hole being adapted.
It must of took a lot of handaxe pollishing to get the dish on the pollisher stone that deep. Maybe grinding corn could have done the bowls?
