What I didn't say was where was the marker showing the observer where to stand to see the the chink and did they use "elephant" in the 600 required 1 elephants -600 elephants after noon . All the while wishing they really lived in Greenwich ,if only at the equinox .

Well I assume he is saying the marker is the flat rock the shaft of light lands on. Shame he doesn't say if it could have been placed there.

As for the timing, Salopian noon occurs at exactly 0.00 Elephants I suppose. Someone needs to go up there and check that.
