what an absolutely stunning place. and what a fantastic website.
the stand out image for me is the hand, did you notice the fingers and how two of them are closer together? would you say that they're straighter beneath the middle knuckle and splay slightly to the tips as if they'd been broken and healed badly or maybe lashed together for strength whilst healing and set slightly deformed? or is it just the angle that the person blew from?
amazing herd drawings and a mad selection of animals that one just doesn't associate with that neck of the woods. What a sense of peace in their time too.
certainly agree that seeing such beautiful images of herds is a brilliant reference point to the landscape.
my friend put it to me that if the ancients could stand in awe of beauty enough to want to draw a lasting image then would there surely not be more drawings of women? a very good point i thunk as men have surely always worshipped at that particular altar, assuming that the girls all looked like racquel welch and the boys like brad pitt !
one more thing .......... erm ......... the key showed the scale measurement to be 10 m .......... that would be ten metres as opposed to ten mi.......... forget it i've answered my own question there !!!!!!
the way the cave's shown though makes it look hundreds of miles lon....... i'll get me coat !
