I agree, and "whoring" is a good word! We all have sympathy for particular good causes but I don't want my daughter announcing she's going on the streets in aid of Macmillan nurses!
Didn't they use Stonehenge for TV programmes such as Tess of the D'Urbevilles, Dr Who and Top Gear plus all the equipment brought onto the site for filming purposes. Isn't that the same thing which nobody ever mentions?

No, I think there's a difference. Messing with hill figures - whose essence is aesthetics - is worse as it trivialises or disrespects far more. Think of Big Brother, Trinny and Susannah, Paddy Power and (repeatedly) the Countryside ruddy Alliance.

Also, "using" is one thing, faux graffitising is another.
