Just thought I'd bring this one back to the top after visiting with FWs and having my impression of it expanded by his interpretation...

So, again the question is - does anyone know it's name? Has it ever been given one? Also, has anyone seen any reference to it other than as a footnote to Maen-Y-Bardd?

When I first visited I was pretty impressed, but puzzled why it remained hugely unsung, and so left feeling that there was something I was missing. FWs' enthusiasm for the site confirmed that it is worthy of attention in it's own right, and not just as a minor distraction when visiting Maen-Y-Bardd.

Oh, and the capstone is a real beauty :-)

I`ve visited this site and agree, it`s worthy of attention in it`s own right; there`s some interesting looking `lumps and bumps` nearby, too.

In the one book I`ve seen it mentioned (can`t remember which) it`s simply described as `a cist 100yds east of Maen y Bardd`. The SMR describes it as `burial chamber, nr Maen y Bardd`.

As no one else has come up trumps, it seems to me that it hasn`t got a name.
