I am still gobsmacked by the conditions which most people South of the Border live under. There are a few sites in Cumbria and Northumberland I'd really like to check out. So if I combine upland sheep farm, grouse moor and a military firing range... am I on a hiding to nothing trying to sneak a visit to look upon the joy and wondrousness of the Romanno-Celtic Shrine to Cocidius in Northumberland or what?

I'll just have to bring my Scottish passport, plead diplomatic immunity and hope that a Holyrood committee will spring me from some polis cell in Rothbury.

Very nice post HD, yes most of us know its better across the border - especially students and the 'elderly infirm' (though I have it on good authority that student fees are on the way in Scotland too). The Ramblers Association works hard on keeping Rights of Way open and improving the walking environment in both countryside and town.

Meanwhile ... BBC4 now!!
