That’s a hard one - what’s the criteria?
For clarity and sheer objectivity Earthstepper is hard to beat. Tombo and Treaclechops for the sheer beauty of their prose (and the depth of their insights). Perhaps also for a style of writing that’s both personal and encompassing. There’s also plenty of razor sharp perception in Tombo and Treaclechop’s writing. Perhaps that’s what should be at the heart of any good writing of the TMA sort - the knack of channelling observations and experiences so that others can appreciate them, while not layering them too much with your own interpretations.
Earthstepper, Tombo and Treaclechops are sadly no longer here, but there are others now who are and who are pretty darn good at what they do – whether firing our imagination with speculation or injecting a sense of humour into it all. Like wot it says on the cover: TMA, “...has grown to be a massive resource for news, information, images, folklore & weblinks on the ancient sites across the UK, Ireland and Europe, thanks to the remarkable efforts of all those who contribute.” :-)
