Callanish, hmm...

Having watched the summer solstice sun set on my own this year, I think there is something to be said for finding a nice quiet site. One of the scotish recumbents maybe. I might save Callanish for a slightly less busy time.

I think Thom mentions, in Megalithic Sites In Britain, that there are four known lunar standstill sites. There's at least one other - from somewhere near Llandridod Wells to tumuli on Glog Hill - http://www.megalithicsites.co.uk/yglog.html

I'm hoping that one of the stone rows in the Smithills Country Park, Bolton, will contain a lunar alignment.
