Thanks Vicster - I've been to the area before but plan to go up there with my 'new eyes' and visit some of the megalithic sites there.

Is the alignment that is mentioned on the sitepage natural or does it look as if the stones have been manipulated?

Forget last question - I've just worked through Fitzcoralo's weblog describing it!

jacksprat, many tales and myths have been passed down, for good reason, and as those lands over the wrong side of the pennines are often wet and stormy,
I would be very carefull about standing in the vicinity of any specific spot you may find.
Without mentioning rash inducing subjects, dont shelter under a tree, dont shelter under a dolmen, or stand close to any such spot, it may if lightning is about become a hot spot, churches are well served with earthing devices, and it is not just because they stick up a bit, same with trees, it is the spot.
