I disagree with your none reinstatement part Moss. Of course it will never be the 'same' but at least rebuilt correctly in look and grassed over it will 'look' the same eventually. Nothing is going to bring the original back as you rightly say, but I believe it is only soil so one assumes few possible artifacts will be lost...hopefully!

There are pros and cons for rebuilding I suppose. One bad side is it sends out a message that removing earthworks is no big deal as they're not irreplaceable - which of course they are.

On the other hand, it would be good (if the culprit is fit) to have him given a shovel and be forced to rebuild it by hand. A public viewing platform could be erected.....

And every night, after he'd finished work, he could be led to the two bricks.
