I'm guessing its considerably earlier than the two smaller "classic" henges on the Mendip plateau (Gorsey bigbury and er the other one (Hunter's lodge?))
Jamie, the Jodie Lewis book says, lack of direct dating at Stanton Drew, but it would seem like that the complex at S/D is multi-phase (obviously), the earliest phase either being the construction of the timber circle complex or the henge...
Gorsey Bigbury is just as difficult, from what I can read, there is a 'before Beaker' and after, (records were lost in WW2) but she goes on to say that the initial phase of the site comprised the erection of a henge monument (class 1) prior to 2250 cal BC Tiompan.
I don't understand the new dating method of calibrated dates.
You'd have to read the book to understand Hunter's Lodge! falls between late Neolithic henge and early bronze age disc barrow because it has an offset mound inside and other features....
