Have to say, I felt very strongly that Achnabreck was a map

If it's ducts /tails/radials yer after then there is no place better , for volume than Achnabreck .

Maps have often been suggsested as a poosible explanation for RA but none have convincingly been shown to be a map of anything in the landscape or heavens . In the case of multiple panels in an area would one suffice for a map if so what are the others and if not you would expect overlapping and there is none .

I know what you mean but why 'expect' overlapping?
Achnabreck seems remarkably complex and self contained. Settlements would have been separated by forest so a carving of an individual 'village' is feasible.

I agree that there is huge variation but I really don't believe we can assume that all RA served the same purpose or represented the same concept just because the style of execution looks similar.
