Mind you... when I was in hospital shortly after having my middle daughter, the girl in the bed opposite had named her daughter 'Mercedes'.

I'd rather be a Jane, or a Sarah or even a Sharon rather than a Mercedes.

Especially since she couldn't decide whether or not to call her daughter 'Porsha' or 'Mercedes'.

But still. Each to their own.

Dear oh dear. Am I the only posh bird on this website :) Mercedes is a very respectable Italian name - the car is called after the maker's daughter, Mercedes - the name came first.
Portia is a Shakespearian name - from Merchant of Venice so is also a bit italian and rather lovely. Porsche is the car.
