It's no good moaning about Channel 4. Money will always attack conservation and good taste. It's the NT that need sorting.
It comes down to respect for the sites, in the end. It ought to be common sense and it ought to run in the blood. If it doesn’t then there are recommended rules to guide people, eg….

Even the wretched geocachers, who don’t have natural respect running in their blood, have signed up to follow the guidance.
Someone in NT doesn’t have natural respect in their blood, which is a shame, so perhaps we should treat them like geocachers and send them a copy of the guidelines. It would be interesting to ask them if they agreed with them, and in particular this bit:
“do not move, mark or alter the monument in any way, even temporarily”.
