The thing is there are voids within the hill that are moving upwards at an alarming rate. If a void reached the surface and someone falls in then the only way to get them out will to destroy one side of the hill.
;(
Is it worth the risk?
Also, IHMO if the ancient builders wanted people to walk to the top they they would have built a pathway.
Standing on Waden hill and looking down onto Silbury is stunning (eh Lissy?)
ALSO I am now in the habit of stopping my car when I see people on the hill and yelling abuse at them. If they ignore me I jump up and down on the roof of their car untill they come running down again :)

hey pete, too true .. that last afternoon sitting there in the sunshine looking down was utter heaven..in fact i've never felt such warmth in my life.. it really is the best place to see silbury in all her glory...... years ago my daughter urged me to ignore the signs and take her up there, honest guv, the persuasive powers of a four year old!! we had a very brief and loud windy time up there and i;m glad we shared that special moment together , but now next time i take her there, it'll definitely be from waden hill.... seems tragic no longer to protect silbury .. time to say it loud and clear methinks mr g ! much love, lissy x
