What happens in highly publicised solstice revelries at our national icon is uniquely sensitive and like no other situation, as I suspect you know and as I am now confident you will deny.

As for looking down on them, well, that's how I feel about them.

But perhaps I have nothing more to contribute.

Maybe under the circumstances we should all just drop this as I wouldn't like to see anybody leave the forum when their contributions are normally so enlightening. Can't we all just agree to disagree at times and leave it at that without adopting this tit for tat diatribe. C'mon who's going to start a new and interesting thread? I know, I will as I'm off to Cumbria next week and need some advice. Will be back with a new thread later this evening.

But you can't reasonably say that it's OK for Julian Cope to climb on a stone, then label anyone else who does so (at a uniquely sensitive event or otherwise) a "shit". It's entirely inconsistent. It's fair enough to hold the position that you think climbing on Stonehenge at the solstice should be discouraged because of the "uniquely sensitive" nature of the event and the monument, but that's not the same thing as labelling someone a "shit".

All I'm suggesting is that you shouldn't leap to judge people simply because they don't share or understand your values.
