Avebury ditch is considereed to have been been dug between 2700-2900 BC , the early phase of Silbury was 2400 BC Silbury . Did the spoil sit around for 500 years ?
There is no indication of silting in the Avebury ditch and it's 2.4 m above the water table which would have been lower in the Neolithic .

Think you've misunderstood. I'm not saying that silbury hill is the spoil from the avebury ditch, obviously this went into making the banks at avebury and the thoery wasn't suggesting that the avebury ditch was used to store water either
