Though I don't believe a word of his theory, he's not a charlatan he just comes from another country ;) think its Norway, he got part of the theory right about water being important, but being an engineer just did'nt really understand all the other mounds and barrows in the area. Rhiannon's right he should have looked at Marlborough mound etc and Picked Hill is really quite striking as a 'peaked' hill in the flat downland scenery.

Avebury ditch is considereed to have been been dug between 2700-2900 BC , the early phase of Silbury was 2400 BC Silbury . Did the spoil sit around for 500 years ?
There is no indication of silting in the Avebury ditch and it's 2.4 m above the water table which would have been lower in the Neolithic .
